Help choosing new bike...coming from the road bike world....

    Hi All,

Hoping you guys can give me some suggestions and bring me up to speed on the fast moving world of mtn biking tech and help me pick a new bike.

I live in the Santa Cruz area, so tons of good options for styles and rides around. A good friend of mine was recommending me to check out the Santa Cruz Hightower with the 27.5+ wheel option.

Might sound crazy, but aesthetics are a huge deal to me, and coming from the road bike world, I like very clean designs, minimal cables, etc. I was checking out the Hightower today and didn't love seeing the exposed cable routing on the non drive side of the bike. I know aero isn't a big concern in the mtn bike world, but just want to find a clean design that also rides well and performs.

Looking for something within 6-7k. Any recommendations or thoughts? Specialized? Intense? Ibis? Santa Cruz?

    Thanks for the help!

    That wasn't a cable.
    What, me worry?
