    Good Park City, UT Bike?

Am a newer MTN rider- 6'2", 185lbs. 43 yrs. old in pretty good shape.

Currently ride a 1998 Trek 8000 hardtail. Live in Park City, UT and looking for a FS bike. Will not be doing anything too technical- in regards to big drops or jumps- have been riding a lot of Round Valley and some Mid Mountain trail (from the Pinebrook side). Like going fast- am pretty comfortable except on long & steep climbs (can handle the steepness- the long & sttep are an issue right now- but getting better)- still getting used to lack of O2.

If I had to catagorize what I think I like the best it would be XC/XC Trail.

Am thinking a 29er is a good option. Don't want to spend more than $3k. Ideas?

    Thanks.

Check out the Niner Jet 9 X7 ..

    29er Online review

They can be purchased for under $3K and are a good bang for the buck. The CVA suspension works great uphill or down.

29ers are really popular out here, the trails in general are pretty buffed out. You know Cannondale is having a demo today (Thursday) at White Pine Touring right? Go test ride some stuff!

Ha, well WPT has a few Cannondale demos available but they won't be quite as free as they will be when Cannondale's truck is there. Off hand I don't know what bikes they have in the demo fleet but you could also take a spin in the parking lot of whatever they have on the floor.

Find a good LBS near where you live and go test ride.......ride at least three different bikes before you buy! In Park City they should be on every street corner, no?

We have a few- I have been into White Pine Touring a few times talking w/them- they took care of my bike to get it tuned up. If you need info. about the area they are a great shop!

Any of the shops will recommend what they sell- is why I was asking for opinions...

    Thanks.
