i was deciding between exactly those two bikes a little while ago (the trek was brought up, too).

i went with the stumpjumper and i'm absurdly happy with it. it's light, has some sick components, and the fork is unbelievable -- the Fox F80RL retails for something ridiculous and is well worth it. feels like butter.

the giant geometry, btw, i found was a little strange -- big reason i didn't pick that.

also, o6 specialized bikes are trickling into lbs', so prices on the o5's are dropping.

I bought a Giant XTC at the beginning of this riding season and am loving it so far. The geometry is not weird at all, although the 17" is a little small for my lanky 5'11" body. The brakes were upgraded to Hayes mechanicals and the fork was also upped to a Manitou Mars. Very light bike with no problems whatsoever, climbs like a mountain goat and descends hard as hell.

If you are interested, I am looking to move into a full suspension setup and would love to sell to an interested buyer.

    Tom.
