    Frame question

hi new to the site ..
my question is changing a hardtail frame to a suspension .
i have a 2003 KONA NUNU .. would it be cheaper if i buy the full suspension frame and swapping the component or maybe replacing some rather than buying a new full suspension bike.im kind in the budget its either sell my kona nunu and get a new bike .what do you guys think. thanks in advanced

I'm assuming your bike is stock right now, which means you have a 80mm fork. Many XC FS bikes have 100mm forks. Although there is nothing saying that you can't use an 80 on a frame made for a 100mm, this would be something to factor in.

The MSRP on a Kona Kikapu is $999 and the frame/shock is available for $425. Your bike was about $700 new? If it's in good shape, I would lean towards trying to sell it whole (I would try to get around 400) and just springing for the whole new bike. You have to remember that some components may not transfer over, and you will of course have to do all the work and buy all the new cables and so on if you transfer components.

The Kikapu isn't the only choice of course. I was just using it for comparison. There is a lot out there, but be weary of FS bikes below $1000 because they definitly cut some coners to get them there.
