    Aluminum Chip

Got my new Trek Checkpoint ALX5 yesterday and after the transaction my fiancÚ noticed a chip which they compt us $100. The woman also suggested we use clear nail polish to keep it from chipping more. Agree or disagree?

Clear nailpolish is not durable, it'll be gone in a few rides. Epoxy if you want it to stay for a while.

I'm guessing they meant a paint chip? An aluminum chip sounds sort of catastrophic.

Paint chips on bikes. Ill protect the chainstays, but that's it. Rocks fly up and chip paint, or I'll just flat out crash eventually. If it's ugly I'll use some touchup paint, but it's not worth spending too much time on. Fix one, another shows up.
