Opinions please. I'm am contemplating two trail bikes. 1. Trek 6500 Disc-$980.72 out the door with a Shimano Deore XT front derailleur upgrade or 2. Gary Fisher's Hoo Koo E Koo Disc-$1100.00 out the door. I am pondering, with much analtivity, the shocks and derailleurs. Is the Manitou Exel Elite w/preload, 80mm of travel (which is an oil spring combination) on the Trek a lessor quality compared with the RockShox Tora 318 Air, 100mm of travel and motion control on the Gary Fisher? Also, is the Shimano XT Derailleur group that much better than the LX group? Are we just talking about weight or is there a significant difference in shifting under presure and durability? I am leaning towards the HKEK because of the shock and am thinking about upgrading the rear derailleur to XT. Wha cha think?!
