New question here. 2005 specialized stumpy comp or SC superlight

I am 175lb. 6 ft. Aggressive XC rider looking for my first full suspension bike. I have ridden a lot of bikes and have narrowed down to the 2005 stumpy FSR comp and Santa Cruz superlight with comparable components. I do not race, and am comming from a 1993 spec. M2 FS hardtail (yes with original shock). Anyone hava any insight to long term durability, climbing quality, and comfort factor of these 2 bikes?

From what I've seen of SC and Specialized, the Specialized will far outlast the SC for an aggressive rider. The Stumpjumper is an XC bike thats just slightly moving to the "all mountain" category which is a good thing for those who like to ride aggressively. I also feel the suspension setup on the Stumpy is far superior to the antiquidated design of the Superlight. The Stumpjumper has very little pedal bob at all and a very stable feel under power, but feels plush on the rough.

Would it be worth it to consider the heckler or enduro? Would they be too heavy for long technical climbs?

    Stump all the way

Iron Horse? God help us all!

The stump is the way to go. I'm biased, I'm on one. Check out the new 120s.

I have also stumbled upon the ventana pantera. Looks like an awesome ride. I like the simplicity of the single pivot. Any info on the pantera? Also, I am looking at the 100mm stumpy's. The 120's are out of my price range. I am at $2000 max. Thanks to all that have replied.
