    $1000 bike off

mkay the budget is $1000, here are the contenders and i'm open to other suggestions.

like the brakes, decent drivetrain, don't know much about manitou shocks or where these ones fall in the totem poll, would prefer air rear shocks but not a huge deal i guess, overall good looking bike, just don't like red but i can get over it.

looks like a solid bike here, nice price, gives me room for other gear. a little more XC oriented with the smaller travel with the shocks, would prefer 5", but would probably suit my needs for the *most* part.

i like the brakes and drivetrain, ok suspension, overall looks like a great bike for the price, and i dig black

Some more bikes around my pricepoint:

of those i think i like what the '07 iron horse warrior 6.0 and the K2 Lithium 4.0 have to offer the best with the K2 Lithium with the edge.

these bikes are all starting to run together and i'm going crazy. any recommendations would be awesome! thanks!

Ibex Atlas.... a kick ass do it all bike... Can take all the abuse you can dish out and yet light enough to climb... Plus, i prefer coil shocks to air shocks... they are way more responsive and dont pack like most air shocks do... though Manitou makes some really nice air shocks... The ISX is nicer than DHX airs which often packs... Evolver ISX doesnt... and the one i rode was an SPV one too... not the ISX6... Manitou makes some nice forks though i'm not too keen on their SPV offerings, once they're devolved they are awesome and work better then some Marzocchi HSCV forks... Just like a TPC...

I just bought an 06 iron horse warrior pro a few weeks ago and I am more than happy with it. Primary reason I bought it was because I rode a friends (who is also very happy with the warrior) and new what I was getting and that the bike would fit me. If they have that k2 4.0 in your size its a lot of bike for the money, I would have went with it myself if there were larger frames available.

ah crap they use to still have the xl for the k2 4.0, oh well thats the nature of closeouts, with my timeline i really can't rely on 06/07 closeout deals since i'll be likely purchasing in a month or so.

at this stage i'm pretty set on the 08 Ibex Ignition Super (in matte black ) which will be out in Dec-ish

I'm in the same boat as you man, I'm thinking I'm goina hold out for the 08 Iggy. I got an 120 mm Manitou black on the front of my current bike and I just figured I'd swap those out to save some more weight.
I'd nix the Moto and the Iron Horse simply because the way a ton.
The reason I'm not going with the Atlas is mainly because it has a coil shock.
