Tubeless Conversion on my old Wheels

I have a set of Bontrager Corvair wheels on my '00 GF Tassajara. I need to get some new tires soon and keep hearing about the Pro's of tubeless(as well as the con's, burping, tires blowing off etc.) Would it be a bad idea to try and Stan's conversion kit on these wheels.

FYI, I am not trying to be cheap,I have rear V-brakes and no mounts for a disc caliper on the frame and have yet to find a wheelset that is UST and vbrake compatible.

    Thanks!

I would recommend going with either UST or Tubeless Ready (TNT, 2Bliss, TCS, etc) tires to give you the best chance of success. You could pay for the Stans rim strips (Standard) or try one of the Ghetto Methods. If you have access to an air compressor, the Gorilla Tape method may be enough. Simply tape the rim bed and make sure it is pressed down good and firm. Then punch a hole for the valve stem (cut one out of an old tube, removable core ones are best) and install it. Install the tire and pour in sealant right before you get the last part of the bead on the rim. Lubricate the beads with some soapy water and use the compressor to seat the tire onto the rim (don't exceed 40 psi). Shake the sealant around until the entire bead seals (no more soap bubbles) and you should be set to go.
