    Rockhopper or f5

Looking to switch from road to mountain and want to start out under $600. I have narrowed it down to the Cannondale F5 07' disc for $570 and the Specialized Rockhopper 08' non disc for 550. I need some help cause now i can't decide between the two and I am really not familiar with the Sram components on the cannondale. It is going to be a street and hard trail ridden bike mainly hopefully getting more intense in the months to come. Any suggestions would be great!!!
    Thanks
    Bodi

I preffer the SRAM components to the Shimano stuff at that level, but the Rockhopper '08 frame is about a 1/2 lb lighter and the fork also has a lockout (dart 3). I think the F5 fork doesn't get lockout until the '08 model (dart 2). You'll need that feature alot if you plan on spending time on the road. I also like v-brakes better then disk- less weight, less headaches, less noise, and with the right pads, minimal loss in stopping power. If weight is no concern then wait and get a '08 Cannondale.
