    mountain bike to XC?

i recently bought a 07 norco rival and i love it, its an amazing bike but the issue is...
next june im hopeing to ride in a fundraising bike tour.
its a little over 200km and a 2 day event with many large hills
due to my bash gard i have only 2 middle gears.
is there anything i can do to make my bike easier to ride at a fairly high speed over a long distance?

i know i'll need to train allot, but if some of you expirenced guys could give me some cheap easy tips that would make life allot easier.

Fast rolling tires, stiffen the fork up as much as possible (There's no lockout on that one)
Maybe some other stuff, I can't think of anything else right now...

If it is a road ride, slap on some slick or semi-slick tires.

Depending on the chainrings and derailleur you're running now, you could pick up a big ring and swap out the bash for the ride. You'd just need to re-index the derailleur.

good suggestions so far- also you could try raising the seat and putting on a longer stem
