    Hi.

Finally got around to registering here; great forum! I haven't been on a bike of any kind for around 10 years, then was given a cruddy free bike (c. 1990s Schwinn mtn bike) and I'm really excited to be riding again.

I've tried out a bunch of road bikes and finally just ordered a Surly Steamroller from my LBS. It can't get here soon enough.

I think it is a road bike.(?) Track bike for the road. (?) All I know is it's a fun bike and feels quality to me. I just have to decide on pedals. Almost too many options.

Alright well, that's not exactly the best bike for mountain biking, but if you like it then that's your deal. : P

Haha I get you now. I live in the city in Florida. I was given a free mountain bike a couple months back, but it's not much use here. I only bike on mostly flat, paved terrain now. The Surly is a good fit.

    Mittens,

    Congrats on the new bike...

I think what mmik is trying to says is.... you're in a mountain bike forum, not a road forum.
