Help me choose my next bike...

I've been through several hardtail bikes over the past few years and I think it's time for me to try out a full suspension bike. My preferred local trails are pretty flowy - I don't ride the really technical tracks.

Here are the options (sticking to 29ers with 120mm front suspension)

Brand new Marin Rift Zone 1 (average to lower end components including Recon air fork, but still adequate for the type of riding I prefer)
2014 Santa Cruz Tallboy Aluminum (fox 32 fork and shock)
2016 Trek Fuel EX 5 with upgraded recon air fork and 1x drivetrain

The wild card is to ditch this plan and go with a used Trek Stache 5.

I must note that age and some minor lower back issues make me think a full suspension may be the best choice.

If you have back issues, go with a full suspension. Are you gonna ride through some rocks and roots or is it smooth dirt?

Some of the trails have roots/rocks, but nothing too gnarly. Is a full squish really that much more comfortable than a bike like a Trek Stache with its 29" plus tires? But yeah, I'm leaning towards a full suspension, now to decide which one.

It is for me! I have issues with me feet, knees, ankles, back, and everything else. Having a rear shock takes the bite out of some of my pain while riding.

Anyone have any input on how a new Rift Zone 1 stacks up against the older Santa Cruz Tallboy - the Santa Cruz has better components, but is it already dated as far as geometry and the suspension design is concerned?
