GT Avalanche Expert - Derailleur issue?

    Hi there.

I recently bought a GT Avalanche Expert 2009 and spent last weekend riding it around the bush trails in the Blue Mountains, Sydney. I had an awesome time.

    However, I noticed a small issue….

When I attempt to shift to gears 9, 18 or 27 the derailleur doesn’t appear to drop the chain down into gear. The chain just sits there in limbo and ‘click, click, clicks’ over and over. It might decide to drop down into gear after a bit or I might have to flick gears around to get it to jump down.

What might be causing this? Is this an issue I can solve myself, or should I just take it to the shop I bought it from and get them to look at it?

It's just an adjustment issue for the rear derailleur. Every bike will do it as new cables stretch. Take it back to the shop so that it may be done properly, though if they are nice you may want to ask them to show you what they are doing.
