    Finally going clipless

I've decided to make the switch from flats and would like to know what are some good cleats and peddles. I like deals but will pay for quality, also I will need to ride to school on the same peddles in normal shoes, any suggestions?

Pedals that are clipless on one side and flat on the other suck. Wear your MTB shoes to school, or keep a spare pair in a locker or something.

Time ATACs are a kickass pedal.

you'll probably do fine with any 2 bolt style (mountain) clipless setup; Time, Shimano, Crank Bros, etc... Shimanos are tension-adjustable which assists in the learning curve as well as being very durable as long as ive had them, and i only ride the m520s.
It seems as though Crank Bros pedals are only durable in the mid to upper priced models.
I dont have any personal experience with Times, but hear theyre good.

Are there any with the clip mechanism sort of sunken into a flat (I think I've seen some Crank Bros)?

I am using crank bros candies on my road bike. It has enough platform to use with a normal shoe, on road.
    New rider, MTBing is fun!

They make flats that clip to the pedal. Some of my mid grade bikes have come with them in the past.
