    They don't look like beginners ...

    they wear all the right gear and have clearly built up their own bikes too.

    I would just say "sweet bike" if they look jealous of your carbon ride, so that your heart isn't cut out while still beating. You also don't want to know where they stash their multi-tools for those things.
