    DBR build question/

    Hey guys,

I am new here and just recently purchased a used DBR X2. I am interested in building it into more of a trail bike than my old Trek 800.

I guess my question is really where do I start? The bike doe not have disc brakes. the suspension seems to be in good shape, but I can't seem to get it to go through all of the gears properly...The shifters work so I think they just need to be adjusted. Honestly I don't know a ton about bikes but would like to learn. Could someone point me in the right direction? do I need to look at my fork for wear? How do I test for wear? are the forks rebuildable/ fluid changeable or would a replacement be needed?

I would advise checking out the excellent advice and write up done by SteveUK

His guide is a valuable resource that some seem to glance over because they want some instant satisfaction.

Check it out, and you won't be sorry!

Thanks for the link. I think that will get me started and even out onto the trail for a run or two. That is a gem of info.

Any other suggestions that anyone would have?

If I want to replace parts...like suspension fork or rear suspension, how do I tell what fits my bike? sorry for the noob question, but I can't seem to find a fitment list anywhere or cost of those items. I assume I should go rock shox. also how much is a disc brake conversion?
