    Bike Rack

    Hey peeps!

Im planning of getting a bike rack (3 bikes capacity) for my SUV.
Which one would you think is better?
I dont have any ideas about the difference of the two so any thought will be
    greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Option 1 = Platform type

    Option 2 = Hanging type

i use a cheap bell 3 bike hanger type hitch rack, with great success, i also like that its smaller and i can park my 4runner in the garage with out taking it out, mine used towable a lil bit, since i have to use an adapter for the 2 1/4 hitch, made a plastic shim and it nice and secure, i have carried 4 bikes on it in a few occasion with no problems.

however the platform type i had on my old civic was much more stable and secure,

the hanger type swing the bikes when braking and accelerating

    Depends on your needs....
platform type hold the bike better , load quicker & no need for extra bungees etc.

Roof rack. My Thule hitch rack on my wifes Jeep got bent by another jeep about 2 weeks ago. Still works but good thing it was empty.

I second the roof rack, had a thule hanger and thought it was more of a pain in the ass trying to use bungees ect to secure wheels and if you have more than one bike on it guarenteed they will rub somewhere

Platform. the Swagmann is better than the one you posted though. Ratcheting hooks make all the difference.
