Not a very good deal for $350. Avg price 10 years ago was probably less than $700. $350 would have been a good price in 2002.

Tell him you're not lowballing him, but a 10 year old 4x00 isn't worth more than $150... especially given the money you'll have to put into it with tuneups/upgrades/service.

If you can get it for $150, might not be too bad deal, but do expect to pay another $100-300 potentially in repairs.

Are you a short guy? 16.5" is a pretty small frame.

I paid $200 for my 2006 Trek 4900 Disc. A 2001 Trek 4900 is only worth $100-$150 TOPS. Flash a Benjamin spot to the seller's face, after test-riding the bike. If he still declines.....slowly stuff the bill back in your pocket and walk. Chances are he'll change his mind...

wow i need to find a deal like that! that bike is even a 2hour drive for me. I think a big part of it is that there really arnt many extreme trails around here for mountain bikes. Most everyone who rides around here rides our bike trail which is a blacktop path so maybe the bikes are still in really good condition??
