170mm vs 175mm crank-set
Hi guys, just curious what's the benefit of a 170mm crank arm length vs. a 175mm? Looking at getting a new crank-set and thought I'd ask the experts first.
Thanks in advance!!

... can be spun faster. Longer cranks give more leverage. The track bike folks are into 165mm cranks, while many singespeeders lean towards longer cranks, like 180mm. Also, longer cranks mean less clearance around rocks and turns. You are more likely to pedal strike if you run longer cranks.
If you ride a medium or large size mountain bike, you are probably looking at 175mm cranks. Road bike, 172.5mm or 170mm. Singlespeed.... 175mm or 180mm.

Thanks man!! Medium sized mountain bike. I dont really down hill or any huge rock gardens. Mainly a trail rider, XC and a lil AM. I think 175mm is what I will go for.
