    2015 Banshee Spitfire v2 still relevant?
    Hi guys

    Would need your opinion as I have been away from MTB'ing the past 3 years due to an injury.

    Have a 2015 Banshee Spitfire v2, I went with the 26" option back then as I was undecided with 27.5". 5 years later, every bike is 27.5 boost or 29 boost.

    Am wondering is the bike still relevant to keep the bike and say upgrade the rims and dropout to 27.5"?

    How important is it to have boost hubs?

    Current parts are below, should I upgrade any of the following or cut my losses and buy a new bike?

    Still a worthwhile bike.
    Boost isn't important, it's just what everyone is making these days.
    You've got the fork already, so just lace up some new rims & bolt on some long drop outs. Short will work in the dry with a 2.3 Maxxis Aggressor, though you'll have access to a lot more new 27.5 tyres with the long ones.
    Your stem is on the long side these days too.

    Totally agree with what has been stated above. I’m still riding my V2 spitfire (though am building up a current edition Rune so what follows is a hypocritical opinion). I think the older Spitfires are incredibly versatile and capable bikes and are still super fun. Thanks to Keith’s forward thinking it will be easy for you to move up to 27.5 wheels if you want and you could even use a Works Component adjustable headset to slacken the heat tube angle if you want to move closer to “modern” geometry. I think the big gain is most new bikes is the steeper seat tube angle which makes climbing more comfy, but even that has been contested by some. I say keep it and ride it til it dies.


    *edit* Based on your burly build, I would consider trying a newer piggyback shock. I couldn’t believe the difference between my Xfusion shock and the Fox X2 w/climb switch that is currently on my bike. Very big difference in traction and comfort at speed.
