    Buying first MTB - Need help please

    Hey everyone,

    Looking to buy my first MTB and need some help deciding want to ride Glenrock/Awaba if anyone if familiar with Newcastle!

    Iíve found these 2 that Iím interested in;
    2015 Scott Genius 950. Upgrades; Shimano XT 2 piston brakes, 1x11 speed group set, Shimano SLX 11-42 cassette, XT derailleur, Fitted Spank spoon 785mm handlebars, Bikeyoke Revive 160mm dropper post, Spank Ozzy Trail Wheels, Maxxis Rekon 29x2.4Ē tyres.

    Or I could go with a 2020 Polygon Siskiu D7 for $1500AUD.

    Which way should I go? Or any other recommendations around $1000-1700?

    If the Genius is 29r, I'd go with that. Some seriously good kit on that bike, not least of which is the German dropper post.

    Polygons ride well, but not being able to fit a drink bottle within reach in the front triangle is a show-stopper for me.

    Camelbaks are OK as a substitute, but if you're wanting to spend any decent time in the saddle (say over 90 minutes) you will be wanting to add nutrition product (carbs, electrolyte and possibly protein) to your drink mix. That makes hydration pack bladders go disgusting and in need of replacement pretty quick, so I prefer bottles for nutrition as they are easily cleaned in the dishwasher. I keep the bladder for supplementary plain water.

    Does that help?
