Send (un)used Bike parts to folks back home

I have a few usuable bike parts lying around in my tiny crib here in NYC. Thought about ebay but kinda didn't wanna bother shipping and boxing these smaller items - derailleurs, disc rotors, shifters, bars, chainrings etc etc

I thought if there's enough interest, a collective effort to send parts back home for the locals to use and enjoy would make a great MTB recycling program. Safe to assume that there will be bumps along the way but so long as I can make one kababayan smile then it's just good vibes for the sport.

Ano? What do you guys think?

That's a great idea but logistically, it would be tough. Centralizing the effort over 50 states will be a challenge. Do you have a particular segment of people that you had in mind as beneficiaries? Is it for the poor? Based on my observation when I visit, the poor fundamentally have more basic needs than having a bike to ride.

Perhaps you can set up a foundation that takes used/new/spare bike parts, which turns around and sells the parts and uses the proceeds to fund a charity program in the Philippines. Maybe you should get a hold of these guys:

    Welcome to Gawad Kalinga

    Love their work, btw.

agreed on the logistics, Ron and thanks for chiming in. I threw it out here to plant a seed. It may or may not grow and if it does, wanna see how it branches out.

if someone can consolidate it on the US side i can ship it in. my personal "charity" is the la mesa park guides. they ride beater bikes so that we can ride on great trails in manila.
Let it flow, let yourself go, slow and low, that is the tempo.
