Since i'm new to mountain bike culture and do not understand fat bikes, please enlighten me. They look cool as hell, but I don't see the practicality of having one in AZ.

I've ridden them several times and they ride much better than you would think. I want one but it will have to wait till the funds come in and that will be awhile. If anyone ever has the chance to get one do it, they are fun bikes.

Did you actually get one? I was talking to Joe from Sunday Cycles last night, and he asked me to tell you that Revolution in Flag was getting ride of their fat bikes at significant discount.

I did the BC Bike Race and two guys from France were riding these... 250 miles 25,000' of climbing. I think big and fat might be the new thing!

I want everyone to go back and look at Cholla's picture. See that white thing under his nose, and above his chin. That's called a giggly smile, and that thing will never leave your face once you start riding a fatbike.

    Congratulation Cholla

Your new fattie won't replace your other bikes, but it you'll love for all those sandy washes down in AZ and trips to the beach. I ride mine everywhere all year round up here in Nome AK, where we have few technical trails or monster climbs, but lots of soft surface riding options on snow, sand and tundra.
