    Volunteering at Grand Canyon

I signed up to do some volunteer work at the Grand Canyon on July 6-9. Looks like trail maintenance, remove invasive plants, etc. Anybody do this kind of stuff before? I figure I'd be ready to get out of Phoenix for a couple of days by that point.

Outdoor volunteering is lots of fun. You get to see new places and meet good people. Great sense of accomplishment when you are finished.

Often times you get to directly benefit from your own volunteer trail construction/maintenance efforts. Ask anyone who worked on the Black Canyon Trail.

I just got off the phone with them. Looks like I'm officially accepted, pending paperwork getting done.

If anybody else is interested go to volunteer.gov. Sounds like it's gonna be a pretty cool weekend. Heck, it's free admission to the Grand Canyon. That's normally $25 by itself. And the weather there in July is awesome. Why not?
