So How Are You Doing ?

And no, I am not trying to pick anyone up....

At the end of last year, there was a thread with respect to how many miles each of us had ridden in 2010. I didn't have a clue as I've never tracked my data, so thought I would do it this year (not a resolution as much as a curiousity)

    2011 Stats so far:

    - Number of rides = 50 (out of 103 days YTD or 48.5%)
    - Total Miles = 640.87
    - Average Miles per ride = 12.81 (most days, I do the same ride from my house to D.C.
and back - then do freerides with the guys on Saturday's)

Last year I did a rough calc. and estimated I was riding between 2,000 - 2,500 miles per year, so based on this run rate (and assuming nothing impacts my riding this year), I should come in around 2,250 by years end.

By the way, this is all single track (I don't own or have ever been on a road bike - that's some dangerous sh%t....)

I have no idea if this is considered below average, average or above average ?
So how is everyone else doing ?

    Lets see. My April stats.

Last week I did 9 miles up and down National. Nothing the week before. Can't get out this week. Hope to get in another 9 miles next week. That should get me to about 18 miles by end of April. 22 if you count fireroad from Pima.

    I'd say you're doing well.

I was going to joke that our ride at BCT really brought down your average speed, but that was last month, so what's your excuse?

I've ridden 8 rainbows, three unicorns, and 31 trodgeholes....all before I jumped into the wormhole whereby I became Captain Picard, killed Wesley Crusher, high-fived Worf.....then flew back out of the black hole and landed back where I started.

Now I can watch The Next Generation in peace again.....

    I've also ridden alot....and cried....and drank.....and talked to Klingons.......

I think he did it all on the road and he probably didn't even move over for the cars so it shouldn't count.

I've made some gains. Still there is a lot of areas which need improvement. I'll keep at it as long as the kidneys allow.

Been doing a better job tracking this year, and between Jan 1 and El Pueblo, i was pretty amazed how the numbers were adding up. Since then, work has gotten a bit in the way, but I am getting back out nearly daily now. My favorite ride near my house is a nice, even ~10 miles with ~1,000 vertical feet. To date:

    618 miles on dirt
    58,252' elevation gain.

Most of this has been on my Rockhopper 29er (she's tubeless now).

I am still shooting for a quarter of a million in elevation gain for the year, I think I am still on target to do so.

I would like to go on record now and make it clear that none of this mileage or elevation gain has been accomplished on any of RadBrad's NAU honies (I read on the bathroom wall at Bunhuggers that after he's done with them, they're crabbier than a Red Lobster bufffet anyway).

    126235 ft total ascent (126530 ft descent) - 8.1 % uphill grade, 11.8 % downhill grade
    5 days 20:39:48 total time (4 days 20:13:20 moving, 1 day 0:26:28 stopped)
7:06 pace (10.1 mph average speed, 46.8 mph max speed)
    653.290 difficulty, 2635.278 effort

Wow. Some of you folks are crushing it. I haven't checked, but I'm at about 300 for the year, but after Sunday I'll be at 358! Hopefully. I was working on 100/month as a goal, and I'm getting it so far, but I think I'll have to step it up! I really need more weekday rides. Nice job everyone.
Today's the day I eat bikes.
