    Rubber for 24HOP

I'm doing my first 24 HOP this February and am starting to train and get things ready. I've never ridden in Tucson and am wondering what tires pair well with the desert dirt.

    Thanks!

You are going to get a very wide range of suggestions, which will basically be everyone personal favorite. The trails are non technical and not that rocky. Plus it really depends on if it is muddy / rainy or not because that could change the best tire. But, if dry and perfect conditions, I would run Maxxis Ikon 2.2 or 2.35. Next up will be a list of tires available on the market.

I pretty much figured I'd get a list of "my tire is the best".

I'm already running an Ikon in the rear and LOVE IT! Thanks for the suggestion.

run fresh sealant. Lots of cactus on the edge of the trails that will get kicked on the trail. (or you may run over).

YES! That is solid advice! And lots of flat desert rats.

I'll second dirtbytes recommendation. I'd get the EXO sidewalls for sure though - they have a few "flavors" of Ikons. More importantly, make sure your sealant is topped off no matter what you are running.

EXO is what I'm running currently...lots of sharp rocks on my local So Cal trails. I was planning on adding fresh sealant before the trip and figured I'm bring a backup set of rubber...just in case.
