    Riding Music

Anyone got any favorite bands or artists they like to listen to when riding?

I used to listen to music but now I just listen to the tires rolling over the gravel lol. I like to hear if I am about to ride over a rattler or not haha, but when I did, I listen to all kinds of stuff. Liked M83, shiny toy guns, and various others.

I too have started leaving the music at the trailhead... But WSP's dirty side down, climb to safety and north songs seem to make my mind wander into Mtb daydreams while doing my daily chores
AcDc, Metallica, GnR are some other good bands for getting pumped up

I listen to music all day at work.....And the way to work...and the way home. I'm on music overload. I cannot wait to get out there on my bike and hear the sweet sounds of mother nature.

My favorite Britny Fox tracks on my current playlist are Hair of the dog, She's so lonely, Fun in Texas (crank it up), Girlschool. Not sure if that qualifies me a fan, but I sure like those tunes.

I actually rarely take my music to the trails, but always listen to it on my easy/cheesy/recovery rides.

If a bottle of glitter and a pile of dirty laundry had a love child it would be Ke$ha.

I usually like to listen to the wind blow through the trees and all the critters but I often rock out pre ride. Right now I'm really fired up to hear the new Janes. The song on the radio sounds so good.

Not sure "have fun" and "relax" belong together when talking about mountain biking...

Widespread Panic +1, and Gov't Mule or anything with Warren Haynes

Besides the studio album, not sure if you know, you can buy all the WSP shows from the past few years in MP3 or FLAC format for about $11-$15 here LiveWidespreadPanic.com | Download Live MP3 and FLAC Shows

Well, given I'm too lazy to go through my playlist and delete stuff I downloaded while drunk or nostalgic (worst of all at the same time) I am beholden to my playlist which is stuck on shuffle. That results in everything from techno, to Celine Dion.

Listening to Whitney Houston belt out "I Will Always Love You" while climbing a long and difficult grind, convinces me I am paying for my sins in THIS life.

The Moral: Don't drink and download.

(But my preferred playlist would be Jack's Mannequin and Our Lady Peace)

The new Chili Peppers album... I'm with You. I've been riding to it for a couple months and it's not getting old. It's soooo good.

But I think speed just for speed's sake takes away from the music and to me that songs sounds fast just because they wanted fast.

One example that comes to mind is Flotsam & Jetsam, a local band from the late 80s, early 90s, that had some moderate "big time" success. They wrote AWESOME, HEAVY music but sometime around the early 90s the speed metal fad started picking up and they started writing fast more so that hard. The quality of the music went down.

Same thing with Metallica. Ride the Lightning is their absolute best album. Master of puppets was the start of their "fast" fad and while it was good shortly thereafter is where I lost interest in them.

But, that's just my opnion. YMMV... I'll have to watch a few more of their videos before I totally write 'em off

I prefer fast paced stuff so I have a lot of techno-type stuff, 30 seconds to Mars, Breaking Benjamin, The Cure, Disturbed, SoundGarden, etc. But if I'm just grinding stuff away on the SS and really need to keep my mind off the pain, I rock out to Tool. That's the best riding tunage there is.
Why would I need more than one gear?
