Wahoo! Less than a week to our next ride!
We are thrilled that Dara Marks-Marino will be joining us!
She is a pro mountain biker who finished 5th in the nation on the NORBA cross country race circuit. She lives and trains in Arizona, and will be coming from Flagstaff to ride with us.
Details: Saturday, Jan 21st, 9:30am, McDowell Mtn Park Competitive Tracks. ($5 park entry fee per car)
Directions: http://maricopa.gov/parks/mcdowell/Directions.aspx

This ride will follow our usual format of splitting into groups by ability level, riding, laughing, and enjoying our time together! We'll make sure everyone gets a chance to talk to Dara about her pro cycling lifestyle. For those interested in racing, some of our groups will talk strategy and do a pre-ride for the first AZ State Series Mountain Bike Race, which is Jan 28th (www.mbaa.net). There will be plenty of fun for those not interested in competing, too!

In February, we'll be down south, participating in the 24 Hours of Old Pueblo. We'll have a Women's Pre-Ride on Feb 4th at 9am. Directions: http://www.epicrides.com/pdf/map_to_24.pdf Definitely carpool to that one!
Even if you're not racing, you're welcome to join our pre-ride--another fun chance to ride with the Chix!
Get your team together, register at www.epicrides.com, and join us in 24 Hour Racing! It's great fun! The race is February 18-19. Use our forum to set up teams, linked from www.lunachixaz.com. We'll be at the race, in Luna jerseys, under our Luna tent, and, of course, with lots of Luna bars to share! Yum!

Future ride dates:
- March 4th
- April 1st (may change--look for a big announcement soon!)
- May 6th

Our local LUNAFEST will be Feb 25th at Modified Arts, http://modified.org/contact.php, 407 E. Roosevelt, Phoenix, AZ. Tickets will be sold at the door, benefits the Breast Cancer Fund.
LUNAFEST is a national film festival that showcases short films by, for and about women. Luna created LUNAFEST to raise awareness about women's issues, highlight women filmmakers, bring women together in their communities and raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund (http://lunabar.com/community/lunafes...=40&location=3).
