Sent a letter to the mayor. Racing in smoke and with a risk of wildfire is not acceptable.
BTW, isn't supposed to rain today?

Had a great conversation with the head of burning at PNF.

If it rains enough today, looks likely, there will be no burns. We also talked about the time of day racers will be on course and
how to make it work for everyone.

They understand the ramifications, and acknowledged the press release could have made that clear.

For anyone who says that the NFS can be unresponsive, here is a clear case that they also do listen.

Go Whiskey. Go PNF burn dept.

Saturday weather forecast is for 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 40 mph. If the forecast holds I doubt any prescribed burning will be going on...

I agree totally ... I would think Groom Creek residents would be more at risk and should be more concerned about the burns..

Just relax, everything is going to be ok..

Sounds like crappy winds for riding in too.

    to me

Good morning! I contacted the Forest Service regarding these controlled burns and they assured me that there will not be any burns this weekend. Apparently there was a misunderstanding at some point but they have changed the burn schedule for the race. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I hope you and your family enjoy your weekend here.

    Thank you,
