Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! Prescott downfall . .

As I noted in another thread, Prescott had a couple days of serious windy weather last week. This thread is to post up trails and specific areas that need cleared of downfall.

I got the lower portion of 326 cleared. That's all I'm aware of at the moment. I'll take a different route this week and post up anything that I clear or still needs to be cleared.

Ha. Clarification: I just rode it today, somebody else had already cleared it, not me.

Dash - You just ride around with an axe strapped to your rig ? I picture a lumber jack cruisin some fat tire. Sweet.

Yes, but not typically. Only after unusually high winds and only when I come across downfall after my regular weekly rides. Then I’ll make a special trip later usually by Jeep to get it cleared. Unless it’s really far back in there, then I’ll strap the axe along for a chopping purpose ride. But that’s the exception. So no, I’m not out every week riding with an axe strapped to my top tube, LOL.

Thanks Dash. Are you removing "all" downed trees or the just the bigger more annoying ones? Reason for asking, some of them are actually fun to try to clear! I know it's hard to pick & choose...and I'm sure you'll get complaints either way!

    Thanks again.

If after a windy day/week and there is something obviously blocking the trail that wasn’t there before, I, like a lot of others, try to remove it. Simple as that. Some trees are fairly small in diameter but too long to move by hand but are on semi-level ground. Those typically stay put or the forest service gets those in my experience. I understand what you’re saying though. I’ve seen downed trees turned into jumps and or “bridges” that are fun. But someone typically clears them eventually.

ps: No complaints. I can't imagine why someone would complain about someone else volunteering their time, sweat, and sometimes gasoline to clear their local trails of downed trees.

Where is this at, specifically, around Prescott?

Anybody have a trail map where this can be found?

    Thanks,

I think most bike shops in town have the new maps. This the new stuff off of Willow Lake.
