Post T-Day Ride for Non-Flying Pigs - Possible Triple Bypass?

So I'm not doing the FOTP, and was thinking about what to do that day, but not the whole day, which is why I'm flightless. Am considering a variation on a Triple that might go something like:
    - Start at 128th St.
    - Lost Dog/Quartz/Paradise over to Windgate
    - All the way UP Windgate
    - Down the backside and over to Bell via the Bell Connector
    - Down Bell
    - Paradise/Quartz/Lost Dog/Ringtail over to Sunrise
    - Up Sunrise
    - Down into Hidden Hills and back on Via Linda (trail on south side) to 128th and the cars.

Good prep for the Quad as you'll add an hour to the "usual" start of the Quad (up Windgate), then follow that route all the way over Sunrise. This variation will skip all the east-side Fountain Hills riding. Figure 5 - 5 1/2 hours at a decent pace.

Anyways, just thinking...anybody interested? Probably a 7 - 7:30 am start to finish by 1 pm.

Could always do this Sat. or Sun. of that weekend if enough people wanted to do so.

    Let me know...
    Ride more; post less...

    Hey Walt -

I haven't figured out what is happening on Turkey Day yet...so I don't know if I have permission to ride FOTP. If not, I'll certainly be up for this ride. I was hoping to do a triple today, but instead of going it alone and running the risk of becoming buzzard bait, I rode almost 4 hours in and around everything on T100 (including Shaw Butte...which was really dumb considering this weekend is the Peak Challenge or whatever it is called).

I should know in a few days what my schedule looks like over that weekend.

    Thx...Doug

If I'm not a pig that Friday, I was thinking of riding BC. I've never ridden out there so that sounds good to me. Plus, I'll be on the west side and driving all the way to Snobsdale is out of the question.
Why would I need more than one gear?

    I should be in-
I have some "issues" to deal with on my hardtail, but they should be taken care of by then.

Hey Walt, Don't think I'm going to do the FOTP, and would be interested in an epic post T-day ride Sat or Sun. I'll be doing a double bypass again this weekend as part of the PEE ride, and was thinking about doing Pass Mtn - Hawes again just to mix things up a little. Any interest in doing that?

    Craig,

I think you can still sign-up from FOTP, if you want to ride* it.

**NOTE: I put the word "race" instead of "ride." My bad. Thanks Kathleen

Would one of the "issues" be a fork?

hey racerboy, FOTP is not a race! It is a very fast-paced & very long group ride where everyone seems to go all out, but there will be periods of waiting for the slower folks to catch up and regroup. For us "slower" folks, it is nearly a non-stop ride with little down time. I can't wait!

Sorry K I guess I need to choose my words more carefully. I am bringing Wild Turkey for those that want to do pre-RIDE shots.

At 6:30am, I prefer my shots to be of the caffeine-based variety

That is perfect... at night, I double as a bartender. I can make that happen for you:

    Bourbon and coffee
1 part (1.5 ounces) of Bourbon
4 parts (6 ounces) of coffee (approximately)

Serve in a coffee cup or mug. Pour in the Bourbon and fill with your favorite hot coffee.

Bourbon flavored coffee is actually pretty good. If the coffee is boiling hot it will boil off the alcohol (which has a lower boiling point than water). Otherwise you will still get drunk if you drink too much, but at least you will stay awake.

haha... actually I was thinking more along the lines of....

Wake up, rub eyes, put water on stove to boil, grind some coffee beans and put into French press. Add hot water, press, pour. Add soy milk to taste and drink. Eat oatmeal, drink more coffee, take dump, ride to Pima Canyon.....

Q: Why do women rub they're eyes in the morning?

A: Cause they don't have any balls to scratch.

    Rides...

    OK, here's the current thinking:
    - Post T-Day Ride: BCT Epic - we did this last year on the day after Thanksgiving, though not the "epic" since that's all new trail
    - Triple Bypass: Sat, Dec. 8 - takes the Triple out of the Thanksgiving/FOTP weekend so more people can do it

    Sound good?

As soon as the Post T-Day ride firms up, I'll post up a thread on it.

The BCT ride sounds like a good one to me
