OT - Found this in my backyard today

After my ride this morning I did my usual weekend pool-boy duties. While fishing around for the chlorine I found this next to the pool motor.

I *think* the skin is from one of those "red racer" ground snakes I see every once in a while in my yard. Gawd I hope this isn't from a rattler. That's all I need - something else for wife to worry about (scorpions are bad enough).

    Thx...Doug

ez way to identify Rattlesnake Skins

Look towards the tail end of the skin on the belly side. If the belly scales are straight across then the skin was shed by a pit viper. If the scales are split into a sort of v shaped pattern then the skin is from a non-venomous snake.
