    Busted?

Looks like you got the prevent defense right before you poached the stairs

Las Conchas right? Looks like the north end of the development. We stay down the coast near the Mayan Palace.

total cockblock. I dithered for too long looking for the best cinematography. i did feel kinda bad about it - would not have done that if I knew the homeowner was around cause it was prolly upsetting for him.

santan - do you bring your bike down there often?

that was about the gist of it.

being that the locals solicit you for tamales, yard service, firewood etc while you are on your balcony, in the garage, holding a screaming baby...it was strangely not out-of-place. nonetheless, i toned-down my hooliganism within the neighborhood for the weekend. Las Conchas has gotten a much better security service once we paid off and then fired our old unionized one, a guy freeriding on a nice bike hardly blends in down there.

I always thought the security in that area was those 2 amigos drinking cervesa in that little guard hut with the speed bump.

I was at a wedding on the beach down there last year...They had a huge mariachi band and a guy with a little taco cart... best al pastor (sp) I have ever had !!! He backed the cart right down to the beach and got busy.

They had a buffet line too but I'm a street taco whore and never got more than a few yards from the cart

    congrats!
unfortunately, I got nothing for ya we always eat in or pretty simple takeout\sidewalk stuff. I've seen plenty of weddings at some of the big houses on the beach, so there is obviously someone doing wedding businesses. If you have a personal reference, that's your best bet, but make sure its recent - the area is hurting and people will say just about anything to get business. You might do best to go with an established restaurant and try to work it through them, since you know they want good referrals. If you are going for good food (rather than fine dining) you will maybe have better luck. I would not shy away from any of the local businesses, but make sure you've got references and some ties to whomever is giving your the reference - its just like here, yknow? I'll PM you if anything comes to mind. sorry i could not be more help.

    Thanks for the advice chollaball,

We'd love to have someone come in and cook to get more of that home cooked authentic food rather than catered restaurant food. On our last trip down to do research we got a couple numbers, one even being from the two amigos in the guard shack. I'll keep on hunting .....speaking of mariachi bands, we need one of those too!

    check your PMs.
the guys who work the guard booth pretty regularly hookup sidework like gardening, handyman, etc for Las Conchas homeowners who they get to know. but, gardening vs. your wedding is kinda a different level of trust in your vendor. Hopefully it will be a good lead for you, but like I said, everyone down there is looking for work. We got burned badly once on a painter, and the guy did handyman jobs for yrs for my neighbor across the street - i knew the guy for like 2 yrs before we hired him, you wouldnt have thought he'd take on a job he did poorly when he knew we were regulars who could give him other jobs. but that's imo something of a cultural difference i've seen (hope that doesnt sound racist or anything, just things I've noticed after 5 yrs doing business there...).

Phillbo - I am deeply offended that you did not take the heckling gift i gave you, this may signal the end of our beachfront e-bromance.
