    McDowell, visiting, trail suggestions

I'm in Flagstaff for a couple days while a relative is checked out at the Mayo Clinic. I'd like to rent a bike (AOA is closest), and ride in McDowell. I'll have about 4 hours.

I can get a ride to the competitive loop tracks. What sort of ride would it be to ride from there back to AOA, at 91st and Bell? Mileage? Gain/Drop? Time for an average XC rider on a hardtail?

    Other suggestions in McDowell?

    Thanks!

    O&S,
Lots of options in the McDowells...no need to get a lift over to the competitive track...tons of fun all accessible on the west side of the McDowells. If you have a gps, I can send you all sorts of GPX's for rides that vary from an hour to 7 hours. A hardtail works fine on all those trails...better for climbing. PM me if you'd like gpx's.

Windgate\Gateway Access area are you closest entry points. 2 miles up the road. search for Scottsdale Preserve and you will find trail maps. Depending on your speed, you have a lot of options, most of them go up.
