McDowell Mnt Park stabilized VIDEO - gettin' whooped by one of your locals

I'm an outta towner (but used to live in Phx) - stopped by the McDowell Park for a quick ride.

Thanks to whomever this was I was chasing (forgot your name already!) for keeping me honest on this fun loop. You had me on the rivet the whole time and I gave up with a mile or so to go!

Fun stuff, hope you enjoy the video! (pass it on if you know who this is??!)

nice vid, what kind of setup you got for your gopro. You have gimbal or something with the chest mount?
.Hoog just texted me and said it's "Surface area to G2 tangential force vector ratio optimization. "

I saw another video of his somewhere. He's got a gimbal of some kind. Not sure what. Not sure I like it either. Undecided... smooth is nice but when I'm getting beat to hell I want the viewer to know it!

Is that what McDowell is, a bunch of fast XC stuff? Didn't seem like a "mountain".

That's McDowell Mountain Park, which is relatively flat and mostly featureless. Which isn't to say it's not fun, because it is. The actual McDowells -- which can be accessed from the park -- are a different story.

I'm fairly certain that's a dude I know, out for a recovery ride. Nice that he can ride there as opposed to the (relatively more hazardous) road.

What was the date? I can check his Strava account.

    Great video quality, BTW.

BigMike - I've actually found that a smooth camera with the bike and my arms going all over the place conveys a lot more action and the difficulty... but that's my opinion. I will say its a lot more of a pain in the A$$ to set up and deal with... my next best non-gimbaled view is seatpost mounted or frame mounted - pretty steady - here is an example of my favorite frame mount location:

I don't hate it. I'm just not sure if I love it yet...

There are a few out now, just google "Rider Z1 gimbal". It is a bit of a hassle, a lot more gear and weight, but I think it's worth it :-)
