That trail is great fun. I was passing through Moab one summer and stayed overnight at the KOA. I hit Pipe Dream in the morning before the rest of my drive and was smiling the whole way. The rock armor work is top notch.

I agree they did a great job with all the rockwork and the routing was also pretty darn good. It was pretty warm when we did it in the afternoon and were beat more so as spent most of the day at 10000ft. We went around the back of the la sal's to ride Burlfriends trail which I would love to ride in the middle to end of summer. It was aspen filled fun but all the aspen were still mostly bare towards the end of May.

Better known as Mag-7, or Mag-5 if you're a pu$$y and bail before Portal

Clock like you stated the trail is worth one ride. In the old days when it was still fairly new I called it Pipemare. I use to stop and do some of that cool rock amoring where I thought it needed it. Happy to see some people thought the armoring was worthy. What direction do you enjoy the most?

I have only ridden it once and opted to start from the south end to the north end into the neighborhood. I stayed high anywhere where it looked to go down to the east. Some of the rockwork looked very familiar

About six years ago, I thought Pipedream was the most physically demanding ride I'd done in Moab--in the direction where you start in town and ride out of town. If I remember correctly, the trail just to get up to Pipedream was really difficult. I wanted to get the whole thing all in one go, so I started working on it, and I rode it every couple of days. One day I came across a guy who was using a crowbar to remove rocks in the middle of the trail, which really upset me. I don't think I ever got it in one go, but one day instead of taking the jeep trail back to town, I had enough energy to attempt the return trip on Pipedream, and it was then that I realized how much easier it was in that direction.

I've been to Moab many times since then, and I've never attempted Pipedream again because I've never been as fit as the first time I rode it--when it kicked my ass. Maybe this Fall I'll be able to give Pipedream another go.
