Last Night ride at McDowell's Pemberton 09/12/09

Since no one has mentioned or posted it recently I figure I would. Far as I know this is the last one for the year so it would be cool to get at least 200 names on the sign out sheet. I will be going a little earlier to get in a quick ride on the bluff trail head to the lot meet with with others and ride the pemberton with everyone.

Mountain Bike by the Moon Light
    McDowell Mountain Regional Park
The award winning Mountain Bike by the Moon Light is a night time ride on the Pemberton Trail (15.4 miles). The Pemberton Trail is not very technical; however, night riding will make it more difficult. Helmets and lights will be mandatory on this ride. Only lights designed for use with mountain bikes with at least a 3 hour power source are acceptable. All riders must sign in and out at the trailhead as they start and finish their ride. Everyone needs to be off the trail by 9:30 PM. This is not a guided ride. Volunteers will sweep the course to ensure all riders return safely. For more information call 480-471-0173.

    Date: 9/12/2009
    Time: 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM Duration: 2.5 hours
    Registration Required: No
    Fee: Included with entry fee

Contact: Park Supervisor Rand Hubbell - (480) 471-0173
    Location: McDowell Mountain Regional Park

I'm in! Just got the lights in the mail today and finally got the bike rack/hitch sorted and installed last week. I gotta make this one for sure. I've never been on a trail at night so I'm pretty psyched

Anyone else going solo wanna meet up at the TH?

In- you mean infamous, CoyoteKis. What's that quote? "Well behaved women rarely make history"?

And Walt... yer just jealous. But you DO look good in green. So keep it up.

Annnnd... because you at last admit me as The Usurper in this Game of Thrones, you may hold my beer for me while I sign the jersey-less chests of men. That's what you meant by shenanigans, right?

    I'm in!

My only regret is that they don't do this a few times in the fall and winter months.

Does this ride go cw or ccw? I would like to set up a camera to try my luck with night photos along the trail, and I want to pick a good spot. I will ride over from FH, so I will miss the parking lot shenanigan photo ops.

well I needed an excuse to ride pemberton. the haven's ride got me out to the Mcd comp loops for the first time and I had a blast. so a night ride with MTBR peeps should be just what I need. (an autograph from CoyoteKis would just be icing, I like scars)

With luck my first Pemberton ride will be the first ride on my new SS!

    Brown....please deliver kindly.

The guys usually do. Girls aren't too willing to strip and ride a bike with 198 guys staring at them. Girls won't pay anything to see a nake guy.
I attended one at the World finals at Mt Snow in VT one year, it was cold so I kept my rain jacket on and I got booed right out of there. I think I made two laps before people started yelling. It was a blast though!!!

Well, you all know (or maybe none of you know) that I'll strip in a heartbeat and do a couple of parking lot laps in my bday suit. But alas, I will not be attending this event So it's up to Coyotekis to be the naked crit girl

Why does it have to be ME? *gulp* I'm not the only chick attending!!! And I'm downright bashful! :-) Besides; I'll be too busy with my exact-o knife, I mean, sharpie, signing Brian C's chest. Although.... I AM trying to raise funds for a new SS. Ha.

So I hear that lights are required; does this mean front and back, or just front. Need to know so I can buy them (or it).

    Thanks

Ok, so, just to make sure I got this, I need to somehow spot a hot brunette on a SS (not tryin' to be fresh, just factual) in a dark parking lot possibly surrounded by shirtless dudes... .

Hmmm, I better load up some carrots today

It's got to be just the front. I would think in such darkness, tail lights would possibly hamper the ones behind you.

LiteNFast- lol! No worries. I only play a Vixen on the internet. I will remain fully clothed, new SS pinings aside.

Noel- Broom. Nice. I'll go with it. Always had an inexplicable obsession with witches... maybe in a former life? Ya think? *wink*

People diss on my Mary. Say it's heavy, and has cheap parts. Makes me wonder if I need something better. Maybe I don't. Maybe it's, ooOooo, the RIDER, and not the BIKE. ;-) ...

We'll see... thinking of National tomorrow morning... I miss that punishing, rigid-fork OOOmmmphh, I felt at Spring Fling.

ROTFLMAO... careful.... this economy has me, and everyone, scrambling for options. But that said... I am bringing, and wearing, my Victorian Bride flannel jammies, which button up to the neck, and cover my ankles. And so we're clear... I am a Modern Woman, fully comfortable with playing the Madame to the naked men that are willing to drop trow for a good cause. I will only ask 5% commission.

I think you meant "carots"... it is known far and wide that I do SO love diamonds. And to keep it real, you need only look for the brunette on an SS, surrounded by empty beer cans. This ride is THE best Party Hat ride. See you then!

I gotta say- I really DO love my Mary! Maybe ignorance is bliss, but when I'm on that bike, it all just melts away. She can take the punishment.... we get each other.

Going to try and make it out. Just got a new road bike, so I may have to be pried off to get on the mountain bike. I have not rode the Mcdowells yet on my SS, by my full suspension has been a bit lonely lately. SS are fun with the right gearing and tires

I got word of this ride from my buddy Dave R. (not sure of his alias). I'm planning on coming along with a couple of my regular riding buddies (sorry, no naked girls). Due to a previous sentencing (marriage) I've never been able to make these rides. Now that I've been "released" just need to know what to bring for the lot shenanigans, costumes etc, and anything else all y'all might advise an mtbr veerrgin....

    Looking forward to it!

P.S. We're planning another one of our pilgrimages to Mecca (Moab) Oct 2-4 if anyone wants to come. We'll be camping at www.moabvalleyrv.com. The more the merrier

The coolest thing we saw last night was the zebra-tailed lizard. At first I thought it was a very large scorpion since it was running with it's tail in the air mimicking a scorpion. Then it ran under a bush and started moving it's exposed tail exactly like a snake (and it looked like a diamondback!). I KNEW by then what it was and it still made me wonder if it was a snake.

Great times as always! It was great to get Ty back on the bike and see him enjoying the bike again.

It was also nice to meet tiffanyinanthem out there. We were cruzing up one of the climbs when she "chicked" us going Mach 2. That girl can ride!
