Jr MTB'ers - The AZ Devo Team is Accepting Applications for 2012

For details on how to apply, see... You Want to be a Part of AZ Devo in 2012? | AZ DEVO Junior/U23 Cycling Team

    About AZ Devo:

AZ Devo supports the positive development of elite junior and U23 (Espoir) cyclists. The team provides support and a structured program that helps young cyclists develop their skills and reach their goals. Team members also learn valuable life lessons that can be used on and off the bike.

American cycling does not enjoy the same level of support as most other sports. If a young cyclist wants to compete at the top level of the sport, the rider and his family must incur all expenses with little or no support. The USA is not always sending our best riders to national and international competitions... we are just sending our best riders that can afford it.

AZ Devo hopes to bridge this gap to become the premier junior development cycling program for Arizona and the country. By developing and supporting elite cyclists at a young age, we will help raise the talent level in the USA and be more competitive on the international scene. Fun, goal setting, sportsmanship, team unity, honesty, responsibility, environmental awareness, community service, and wellness are among the characteristics we emphasize and teach.

The team is supported through non-profit fundraising via the Nova Youth Cycling Foundation, the generous support of our sponsors, and the volunteer work of our coaches, mentors, and staff.

So what kind of resume does a kid need to have to make the team? What ages? Are there many girls involved?

Wow, thanks for the quick reply. I sent you a PM and email with some more specific info/questions.

From looking at the website it appears that you are mostly interested in kids older than my daughter (she's 13) with more racing experience but I see there are no girls on the team currently so maybe there would be room for her. She has not raced bikes at all yet because it was recommended that we hold her back to avoid early burn out but she is very excited to start. Her only racing experience is XC running in middle school and sprint triathlons but she is a cyclist at heart for sure. She usually overalls (boys and girls) in the triathlons. If she needs a definite cycling specific resume she will have to wait until next year to apply. Is there another opportunity available for girls her age?

It is awesome that she has the enthusiasm to race. The "Evo" program is new for 2012 and it is still being formulated, but it will be for CAT 2 & 3 junior racers.

The most important part of the resume is the riders plans and goals for the 2012 season.

My contact info is listed on our blog site. Feel free to give me a call and we can discuss your daughter's situation more.
