    GHEW! That had to hurt.

So, broken QR, or just not on tight enough?

Ouch. curious as to what happened. I thought forks have those tabs that even when the QR is loose, you won't be able to take the wheel off.

Great video. Hopefully That's not a crash video I duplicate.

Based on the follow-up video....it's possible he doesn't remember if he forgot to tighten his QR....

Same here. I had the same thing happen when I was around 12 or 13 on a bmx bike in the street. I still have the scar on top of my head where the rear axle came over and slammed me in the head

So the OP had no idea what happened? That's a pretty bad concussion if you lose a lot of short term memory.

Dude! Isn't there some deodorant commercial with a guy wheelie-ing thru the rest of his ride after he loses his front tire? Hope you're ok.

Thanks all, yes it was me, and yes I'm out of the hospital

I took the front wheel off for a long distance road trip and failed to tighten it properly on reassembly. It was tight enough to ride for 10 miles before the crash though, go figure.

Here's the trip report including the trail video from that day:

Bummer dude, glad your okay. I laughed so hard when you said you didn't remember how you got there, i uttered those same exact words when i concussed the ***** out of myself in Globe. It's kind of funny having no idea where you are and how you got there.

Well you made the "Weed of the Week" for weeding yourself on Freestylemx.com!

Judging= For video quality I give it an 8 with high marks coming from the slo-mo of the wheel coming off in the shadow.

Injury=Man I am glad you are okay. Those are sooooo dirty and can really screw you up.

My Turn to Say How it Happened to Me= Ha- this never happened to me because I am one lucky SOB. I have however torn the handlebars, fork and front wheel as a unit off of two frames while riding/crashing before.

Verdict= Buy new lid, tighten wheel and ride!

Its a thing I do on my site on crashes or fails. I only post them if I know the person lived or at least is not terribly injured for life. Your crash is certainly better than the photo caption contest on here this week thats for sure!!!
