    Good day at the Goat

Can you all stand any more pics from me of the same ol people? I'm guessing you don't have to look ifn you don't want too, so here goes.... But first, check out how the orange poppies near the top of the mountain match my bike! Despite it being so dry and brown there sure were a lot of flowers up top.

At the Spiral Staircase, Dirtbag took the Man's line while the rest of us rolled Lady's line. Not sure what Ti'sser did since he did it well before I got there. We were all having problems with that lower right switchback and drop but I just happened to catch Lynnette just as she dabbed it. Apologies to L for posting but check out everyone's expressions... Priceless!

And speaking of facial expressions... I love everyone's different looks of concentration over this tricky spot.

Nice! Love the pics, KK. Wish we could have been there. Out too late the night before and just couldn't make the early ride time. Looks like everyone had a great time!

Sorry I missed the fun with MikeHell and Dana. Funny Michael, I was wearing my NMBS shirt from Purgatory just yesterday.

Sorry I missed it too. But there was no way I was getting my tired butt outta bed at 3am. Looks like it was as fun as usual.

I'm with Kaboose. If you don't mind taking fabulous pics of the same ol' people then I don't mind seeing them.
Second-hand stoke is just a hair short of first-hand in my book.

Plus, they are always great pics.

I know we left our gnar in the car but...

not a single pic of the fabulous and talented (and sexy in spandex) Mrs. Cball storming her way to the top?! My girl and I did the XC version out-and-back with ~5 others. About 20 miles and 3 hrs of spin-time with about 3k climbing, her biggest ride in a year, and a goodly effort for me as well. I did it once 2 yrs ago in horrible weather, this one was a ton of fun!! Awesome times seeing everyone up and down the hill and sharing a few brews at the car. Thanks everyone for the good company and making my wife feel welcome (back).

thanks for the sweet pics Durtgurl and Epicrider.

It was great to ride with Becki but there was no way I could catch her to take her picture. Did she beat you up too? Your gal is strong and speedy!

EDIT: I meant to type "Did she beat you up the hill too?" Don't worry, she did not beat me up

it was touch-and-go for a while there, but I reigned her in just before the Ford Canyon merge. Once it got chunkier i pulled away, but, Tiss'er on his 400lb bike smoked us both she crushed me on the roadie on Saturday.

she thought about beating you up too, i talked her out of it but only since you will let me oggle your 'box. You can thank me anytime

    thanks!

ditto! what did you use to grab the 'flyby' thing in Google Earth? Is that built into the app. now? At one time, you had to pay extra for that.

While the Google Earth Tour plays, I use a screen grab app called Cam Studio to record a video of my screen,.

The resolution sucks, and I haveta play my tour at an excruciatingly slow speed. Otherwise itís really jerky. The 1 minute tour on the vid actually takes about 25 minutes to play on Google Earth.

Iím sorry I couldnít use your footage, my computer would stutter on all the clips you sent.

DUDE! i think most of it is doable and I was sorta salivating, the scent of gnartopia was so close, and we were all aflush from the descent. But I was afraid of my bike and no armor to take any risks, and being all in-heat would not have been a smart game-face (for me at least). Its not real steep, just chunky.

It is easy to clean...I did it Friday on my little bike, no big deal. There is a nice line through it.

    Yeah...I said it!

Sam that was the coolest start to a video I've seen. You trying to raise the bar or something I didn't realize the first part of this ride was so nice looking. I will be out there for the next one, but not doing the gnarly stuff. Next winter now.... damn heat.
I need to ride more and work less.

Thanks.. I'll have to check that out.. it was a nice addition to the vid!
Sorry about the clips. They're mpeg4 at 720p which can take some cpu
    power to playback/process.

Here are the clips.. just so we get to see Sam riding some!

Memory is cheap these days.. I'm not sure what the fascination is with mp4 and
h.264 when motion jpeg seems to work fine and has a much lower overhead
associated with processing. I'll have to ask some of the hardware video codec
geeks that I work with what the deal is, internal buffering of larger files maybe?
h.264 and mpeg4 are pretty efficient (small files) but a bear to process.

my little Kodak camera heats up something fierce when shooting video

My Mac (last of the powerPC machines) has trouble chewing up and dealing
with the video as well unless I use Final Cut. It's more a software problem
than a hardware one I think. Due to some other third party TV/Video cards
and other software, I cant easily upgrade to the latest Mac OS X version.
