    Five Ten users!!

Just picked up a set of Five Ten Kestrel's from Rage. Best fitting shoe I've had in a long time.

There's a problem though. When I try to get out of my Candy 2 pedals, I can't. The pedal is too tight against the sole, and it takes a lot of effort to get out. Like, I'm going down if I stop without notice, effort.

What are you guys using with your Five Ten's?? I have an old pair of Candy 1 pedals in the garage that work pretty good, but I'm not a big fan of the plastic body. Anyone using the XT M8000 pedals with good luck, or even the M8020's??
I need a cool saying to put here.

Gotta put a spacer between the cleat and the shoe, the Crank Broís cleats come with said spacers.

I put the carbon shoe shield in there, but it's not enough. My new cleats came with no spacers.

Thats weird, I use my kestrels with both Mallets and Egg beaters, all the pedals came with cleats and spacers. Same with the last pair of cleats I bought separately website says they are included with new cleats (they call them plastic shims)

I have a pair of Kestrel Lace that I use with Shimano SPD pedals (with cage) and have no issues at all.

I gave up on Crank Brothers pedals over a decade ago, not saying that's the problem just saying I don't have a problem with Shimano spd's with those shoes.

Heck, the Kestrels have almost zero tread so I don't know what more you could possibly do to get some clearance between the pedal and the cleat.

Try your shoes with some Shimano spd's. I would seriously be surprised if it didn't fix the problem you're talking about.

Take an exacto-blade to the shoe bottom and carve a bevel. Seriously.

Found a couple of shims in my toolbox, and put 'em in. Seem to work ok, but I haven't ridden it in the dirt yet. I'll go for a spin this morning, and see if I can unclip.

    Thanks for the input!!

I had similar issues with HT X2s not being very compatible with my 5.10s. I did try one shim in the cleat didn't work out for me. Those 5.10 shoes have no issues with my XT m8020 trail pedals.

Got a set of the Trail M8020's on the way. The CB Candy's did not work out today, at all. As in, I couldn't get unclipped, and fell over.

Iím surprised to see so many people having issues with Kestrels and CB pedals. All of t took for me was one of their plastic shims per shoe and worked perfectly.
