    Escondito trail at MMRP

Visiting from Boston for a while and loving Brown's Ranch. I'd like to change it up and ride Escondito and Scenic. Is there a better direction so that the climbing is more gradual and be able to enjoy the down hill.

I prefer Escondido clockwise. Scenic is sorta the same in either direction once you get up top. The climb is steeper and a little longer from the south end vs. climbing from the north.

Escondido, not too much difference either way. For me it depends on where you park. I like to finish up with the downhill section on Shallmo Wash since it is a fun way to finish. I avoid Scenic just because of the hikers. I go to McDowell to get away from hikers and horses during the snowbird season.
    Have fun!

Neither have enough elevation gain to justify better downhill. Personally I prefer counter clockwise on both trails.
