It's cool that he stopped long enough for a photo. I just saw one a couple months ago about half way up Javelina and it was just hauling butt away to go hide.

We were stopped and took our shoes off under a nice mushroom shaped rock... he didn't see us and my friend was able to sneak up on him a little for that zoomed in shot

These really are bueatiful animals, we see them pretty often out at sycamore creek when riding the dirtbikes. I've had them run right out in front of me tapped out in 5th gear. Don't know who was more surprised me or the fox.

If you saw this thing move... no doubt a fox. Very agile, leaped over a few bushes and ran sideways on some rocks.

Saw a gray fox on lower National a couple of years ago, haven't seen another anywhere in this area since. Good job getting the camera out for a pic, them fellas move pretty dang fast.

Not on Somo, and you have to look closely, but a Desert Fox, nonetheless. Phantom Ranch, Grand Canyon, AZ.
