Daughter looking for morning riding partner in East Mesa

My 12 year old is getting in to mtb. She is looking for other kids to ride with on mornings. She has good cardio. She is building her bikes skills. She can ride much of the lower Hawes stuff, TRW, Usery. Your kids want to ride around Hawes/Power/TRW with her?

Would be good to get her riding with other kids too.

Let me know. Maybe I will post up a kids ride in the next couple weeks too.

    Edited.

Moral of the story, too much information about kids locations shouldn't be shared.

My oldest boy is 10, if he was a bit older this would work out well. It would motivate him to ride more. Anyways, agree with above - a bit too much detail revealed.

Or use it to identify other forum users with kids that want to ride and then take the details private.

Or at 12 she can just go to the mall where all the sickos hang out anyway. I think you all need to chill. How many times have any of you posted when and where you are going to ride? With that info- anyone could do some research, go steal your car/break into it, get your address and go to your home and have thier way with anything they see. Its not like Sugar is stating "Here is my address, come to my house and do damage to my family." BTW- Sug- maybe hit up Global Bikes Brandee. She works with a lot of kids in the area. Also maybe try the NICA folks at arizonamtb.org and see if any local schools/coaches are doing and rides she can join over there. Good luck!

You need to teach that kid to harden up and deal with the afternoons!

Some folks fear everything. Same folks likely do not let thier kids ride bikes to the store alone either. Please hold your creep advise. I did edit though.

She wants to ride more and her friends are not up to it. Thought I might get lucky with locals that have kids that want to ride.

Good advice Cory. I will give those leads a shot.

edited my earlier post to remove any details I mentioned.

I know where I live, there are some bicycle co-ops and LBS's that donated bikes to local youth groups. Might be worth checking with some of those for leads.

I'll assume you're also a member on local forums / Facebook groups for your area. That would be my first place to ask about teenage group rides.

I believe they were just looking out for your daughters best interest.

group rides are best, the kids get into the groupvibe and forget their fatigue. While its far from you, I really like Brown's Ranch for kids. Postup a ride sometime, or see me over on FB. My kids and your daughter had fun the last time they met. We are probably done for summer, but we've been to Desert Trails like 5 times. Its a great workout cause of all the climbs to go with the DH.

I'm not sure at what age i will let me kids ride alone, and its not for the sickos but simply that so much can go wrong in a desert and with an mtb it takes years to learn self-sufficiency.

Agree that folks intentions are in the right place and it is appreciated. I have no plan to let her ride trails alone yet. With another and a phone I am OK with it though. Call me crazy, but I believe kids should be given some independence.

I have not really looked into FB for local rides. I guess I can check that or create a Hawes group for the locals?

I might just start ditching work for an hour on the mornings I work from home?

Cholla, I could up for a Desert Trails ride with the kids. Also, temps in the am should still be good for a while. Will ride Brown's one of these days. Usery is also real god for kids.

This is exactly why I did not initially suggest you teach the child anything.
