Found the owner !!!! Not many Specialized stores in the East Valley so I took a chance and hit up DNA. After describing the bike the guy at the shop called a single customer and it was his bike !!!! I'm stoked to have found the owner.

Apparently the lift gate of the truck opened and the bike slid out. He made it from Usery all the way to South Mountain with the second bike hanging out of the bed.

Guess not everyone checks that their bike is still in the rack (or bed) every once in a while like me?

i often put a cable lock on my bike for longer trips, just to prevent this sort of thing and also for some quick security if I'm running into a gas station etc.

dang. That is crazy luck on his part. Good on you. I bet he sh!t his pants when he walked around the back of his truck at the trailhead. I lost one bike off a bike rack on the interstate. It has never happened again.

Was it a pretty sweet bike or a beater?
