Best rear 29er tire for Sedona??

Any advice?? I'm currently running an Ikon out back and it seems to pack up with mud and become a semi-slick almost immediately. Any better options?

The Ikon is fine as long as there is no mud. I've run a Bontrager XDX many times in Sedona. If it rains it's going to be slick no matter what tire you run.

Are you going to ride tech or just cruz some single track? I rode with some guys from Form a couple years ago and they all had WTB Volpines on.

    Yes

But it might be called something else. It's a popular 26" tire here .

Or a new Mtn King Protection, lighter and not as stout on the sidewall.

I ride in Sedona several times a week. Lately I've been stoked on the WTB Bronson.

Agreed. Sweet frickin tire for the rear. Super traction. Gonna put one on my SS so I won't spin out on the climbs anymore.

They shred mud too. But then again, the red mud in Sedona is much stickier than the other mud I've encountered.
