AZT slide show Oct 15 @ REI

I thought some might be interested in a little talk myself and Lee Blackwell will be giving in about two weeks up in Phoenix.

We were asked by the Arizona Trail Assc. to give a slide show from our trip on the trail.

    Date: 10/15/08 (Weds)
    Place: REI Tempe store
    Time: 6:30p

LMAO! I had to look up Seth Green, though.

Who will play LG for the Sammie death march flashback sequences??

    Bump. It's tomorrow (Weds).

After the show we are heading directly to New Mexico for the next adventure on the Grant Enchantment Trail.

Do you know if that will make it up to the Paradise Valley store? Would love to make it but with traffic coming from the Northwest of Phoenix...

No, the bike talk is only at the Tempe store, unfortunately. There are other AZT talks at the Paradise store this month (AZT month according to our Governor), but they are not about biking the trail.

I plan to make it this evening if I can get out of work on time. I hope REI lets me stash my commuter bike in the store as I do not have a lock!

They have a bike rack at front of the store (inside).

If tonights debate is gonna be anything like the last (yawner), this will be much better investment in time for myself.

I also made it last night and enjoyed meeting Lee and Scott and hearing of their cross-AZ adventure. I especially liked seeing their Lenzsport Levianthans all loaded up for the next trip (starting today in NM). Thanks for the presentation!

REI needs to update their bike rack to fit tall 29er wheels - thankfully they stored my bike behind the registers and then I had a nice dark commute down Priest thru Guadalupe and across to Ahwatukee... it wasnt' nearly as scary as I had thought it might be and was in fact downright peaceful at 8 o'clock in the evening.

Yeah, that commute thru Guadalupe on Priest is actually pretty kewl. It's nice even during rush hour cuz all the cars are at a crawl due to the Stop Signs and 25 mph speed limit. The rest of Priest will rock once they finish the overlay.
