Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! AZT Jamboree Jan 7, 2012

The Arizona Trail Jamboree is a charity ride benefiting the Arizona Trail Association. 35 miles of sweet singletrack (one way), ending with free beer and schwag at Pistol Hill Road. AZT Jamboree Website (from last year, ignore stuff).

The date this year is January 7, 2012. Mark your calendar/subscribe to this thread for more information. Donations this year will begin on November 1st! There will also be a shirt option this year.

    How to sign up
More info to come, just mark your calendars for now.
All monies go directly to the Arizona Trail Association. Last year, we raised a little over $4,000!

    Logistics
There will be two shuttle times, two drop of locations this year. The first one is 35 miles, the second will be in the neighborhood of 20 miles.

BYO meat/snacks for the after ride festivities.
Map will be posted soon, but you can look at last year's route also. This is a ride, everyone is out to finish the course and have fun. Come out and have fun!

Thank you to our supporters: Topofusion.com, Arizona Endurance Series, TBA Beer Sponsor, Arizona Trail Association and Hammer Products.

Post up here if you plan on attending and/or have any questions!

In! I will finish on the trail this year. I'm also bringing some gears and better conditioning!

Any updates on the BCT route? I heard through the grapevine that the route might change - longer or crazier or something.

Chopped the section south of Rock Springs - only two crazy people did that last year. Added an optional section north of Hidden Treasure Mine so those who don't mind climbing can do the awesome new Antelope Canyon section.

So, you have the option of doing what most of us did last year - or a little more.

Nancy and I will definitely be there. Sign us up for the earlier start time - that way there is more time for grillng and drinking at the end.

This was way fun last year. The AZT is really a mixed bag. Some sections will have you cursing (ask the guy who fell into the prickly pears) and other will have you laughing out loud. All in all, it is an awesome trail and this ride is well worth doing.

Glad to see a shorter option. I think some folks got in over their heads on the long one.

There was a big earthquake, remember? Shifted and lifted mountains.

    You get lift tickets yet?

The bigger the bike, the better. XXXL frames w/ 36-inch wheels best.

I thought god was punishing us with that earthquake but looks like the jokes on him we finally have a downhill run in Tucson.

In. Tons of fun last year, and only got minimally lost at the Three Bridges section. I'm guessing the trail there is complete for this year. Could have saved about an hour if we crossed the bridge like everyone else!

The course has some great rolly downhill type terrain, with one section darn around 15 miles - but don't be fooled! The first part has some elevation to get through first before you commence the perma-grin.

    Can't wait!

In for an early shuttle for the 35 Jamboree & In for the BCT+.

Don't miss the Jamboree ride, great event/people and it all goes to help out the AZT. The best keeps getting better.

How is it that I miss this ride EVERY SINGLE YEAR?!?!?

Unfortunately I won't make it this year (AGAIN) due to the fact that I will have a new toy to play with that is arriving Jan. 6th. My wife is due on the 6th with our first baby (it's a boy... hell yeah!).

You're problem is that you're not planning your conception dates around future MTB events, clearly.

Sounds like your wife will be busy that day and probably would not even notice you took off for a ride

I asked her if I could go skiing in December seeing that my entire winter ski season this year is completely shot and her words were, "If you miss the birth of our child, I will personally castrate you with an olive fork." (or something along those lines)

    I don't think I should tempt fate...

Think me and a few friends may be in. Is there a campsite near by? Do most people just come for the day? The extra 10 miles - are they worth it?

If you love endurance riding, then yes. It's a long day if you add those 10 extra, hard miles.

My wife and hiked this whole section a while back. Pretty good trail. She's hiked all but a few miles of the entire AZT from S to N. Once she finishes that it might be fun to do it on bikes next.

I'm definitely planning on this one. I think a couple of us will be pre-riding some (or all of it) in December.

I guess I should have signed up sooner. Looks like the 8 AM shuttle is full and I was hoping to do the 35 mile route.

What are the logistics of doing it self shuttled. We'll be coming down from Phx and not familiar with the area.
