We the people ... AZ Riders Win 24 Hr National Championship

AZ Devo riders, Ryan Geiger & Tyler Coplea teamed up with Casey Williams & Shane Skelton from California to form the CA-AZ Devo Jr 4-Man Team for the 24 Hr National Championships last weekend in Colorado Springs.

Casey did the LeMans start and set the tone for the team. He got a great start and finished the lap in 3rd overall and put a big gap over the other junior teams. Ryan took the hand off from Casey and continued to build the lead over the other junior teams and held the team's 3rd place position overall. Tyler and Shane took laps 3 and 4 for the team and helped build the lead and close the gap to 2nd place overall.

As the sun went down, each rider was set up with a Baja Strykr SL on the helmet and a Strykr II on the handlebars. Big thanks to our sponsor, Baja Designs, for lighting the way for us. These awesome lights allowed the riders turn in some very fast night laps and move into 2nd place overall. The team was averaging about 1 hr 5 mins at night and were able to do 2 laps with the lights on high on a single charge. When they did need to recharge the batteries, the crew from Baja was there with a charging station to keep them going through the night.

The team now set their sights on closing the gap to the 1st place overall Pro Cycling Team made up of riders like Russell Finsterwald of Subaru-Trek and Brady Kappius of Cliff Bar. The gap got as close as 7 minutes by daybreak and the team was never more than a mechanical or missed hand off from moving into the overall lead. But, the Pro Cycling Team rode a flawless race to hold on to the overall lead and beat the junior team by just under 10 minutes by the end of the race.

The CA-AZ Devo team ended up lapping the other junior teams several times on their way to the National Championship win. Congratulations to all the other winners and competitors! Results - http://s213729262.onlinehome.us/24hr...ults%20(1).txt

The team did 23 laps, 311 miles and 51,359 feet of climbing. Not a bad days work.
